STOP THE PLA!
Tell CUSD to Reject the Project Labor Agreement!
In mid-October, CUSD will hold a Community Outreach meeting at CHS to discuss construction projects, followed by a Board Meeting on October 21st with a possible vote on the PLA that would increase costs and make improvements to decaying buildings like the Cultural Arts Center next to impossible.
We need parents, teachers and students to show up or email the Board to ask them to prioritize our schools instead of outside special interests and REJECT THE PLA!
A PLA is a pre-hire collective bargaining agreement that essentially requires every construction project to use union labor or pay union wages and benefits — greatly increasing project costs and limiting competition.
Save the Cultural Arts Center!
How will the PLA impact CUSD? The CHS CAC is in need of millions in renovations and improvements. A PLA will send that money to special interest labor groups outside of Carlsbad, making it difficult or impossible to fix.
Outsiders Want Our Money!
At the April Board Meeting, numerous union laborers from outside Carlsbad came to ask the Board to negotiate a PLA simply so they could get paid more. One even talked about being able to buy two homes with his artificially-inflated union income (Listen Here!) and then inexplicably claimed "the PLA will bring a lot of money to Carlsbad."

Who Supports the PLA?
The PLA is supported by special interest groups from outside Carlsbad. They donate thousands to school board trustees and candidates in exchange for support for the PLA.
